These decoys are being used in a large, multi-species restoration project coordinated by the North Carolina Wildlife resources Commission where they are trying to attract birds to suitable habitat on a dredge spoil island. There are also restoration projects occurring in California, Florida and South Carolina.

Visitor Center
The Project Puffin Visitor Center (PPVC) is located at 311 Main Street in downtown Rockland, Maine. The center opened its doors officially on July 1, 2006.
