The Port of Los Angeles began a project in 2005 using Elegant and Caspian Tern decoys to relocate a colony of these birds away from a Least Tern nesting area.
In 2008, Grupo de Ecología y Conservación de Islas, A.C. in Baja, Mexico began a seabird restoration project with Heerman’s Gull and Elegant Tern decoys on Asunción and San Roque Islands, El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, Mexico. The project is ongoing as of 2012.

The Project Puffin Visitor Center (PPVC) is located at 311 Main Street in downtown Rockland, Maine. The center opened its doors officially on July 1, 2006.
