Since 2005, these decoys are being used in a restoration project coordinated by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission where they are a number of species to quality nesting habitat on dredge spoil islands in Pamlico Sound, near Manteo, NC.  The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources started a restoration project in 2007.
